This interdisciplinary workshop and residency emerging from a confluence of experiences—personal, cultural, and collective— invites women artists, makers, and storytellers to engage in an exploration of identity, memory, and belonging. Through shared creation, the participants are invited to revisit the layered dimensions and complexities of women's lives, transforming personal and collective narratives into tactile art.

Curated by Aakriti Chandervanshi and facilitated by Alyen Leeachum Foning, the artists shall interrogate how artmaking can reclaim the sacredness of the feminine experience, honoring the seen and unseen labors of care and resilience. By engaging with materials, crafts, and experimental practices, the collective shall create a living archive of memory—where textiles, sound, text, visual and mixed media amplify historically unheard voices and reimagine histories. In this space, we seek to forge a collective vision of femininity that transcends borders, leaving a shared mark on a tapestry of resilience and reimagined futures.

Open to women from the region of Ladakh and J&K. We invite individuals who have been practicing for a minimum of 2 years and their portfolio and resume reflects so.

The residency culminated in a public exhibition that showcased the works developed over its course—textile installations, mixed media pieces, lens based work, and written narratives that emerged from the participants’ experience at the residency. Visitors were invited to witness a collective reweaving of personal and cultural histories—where each work acted as a thread in a larger tapestry of resilience and remembrance. The exhibition served not only as a celebration of artistic exploration but also as an invitation to reflect on the unseen labors, intergenerational knowledge, and enduring strength of women in the respective regions.
